Following on from his debut Onespace exhibition Language of Intent, and his recent announcement as a Onespace represented artist, the Queensland Museum has confirmed an exciting acquisition of Darren Blackman’s work. This acquisition encompasses a curated selection of six textile pieces, marking the commencement of what promises to be a many more of placements within esteemed institutional collections.
Peggy Kasabad Lane, writer for the Language of Intent exhibition catalogue, delves into the impact of Darren’s textile creations, stating:
“(Darren’s) textiles allows his message to be taken off the wall and out into the street… reflect(ing) upon the exclusivity of high-end garments comparatively with the branding of the Voice campaign”.
