We are excited to announce that Brian Robinson’s major solo exhibition ‘Multiverse’ will be on display at Newcastle Art Gallery from 23 May until 30 August 2026.

Brian Robinson is of the Kala Lagaw Ya and Wuthathi language groups of the Torres Strait. Born on Waiben (Thursday Island) and now Cairns-based, Brian is known for his printmaking and public sculptures in which he uses a variety of techniques to produce bold, innovative and distinctive works.

‘Multiverse’ traces Robinson’s recognisable visual language of minaral design and contemporary iconography. In the exhibition you will find his expertly carved ancestral stories of Waiben, the marine animals that inhabit this environment, as well as cultural icons in present day. These linocuts are presented alongside significant sculptures and striking animations that bring his printmaking to life.
