Onespace is excited to announce that it is moving its gallery and offices to a brand-new location at 25A Bouquet Street, South Brisbane.
This expanded exhibition space opens in August 2024, providing a new home to one of Queensland’s vibrant commercial art galleries. The space is at Kurilpa, just around the river bend from Queensland’s peak cultural organisations and just across the road from Queensland Theatre.
Onespace co-directors John Stafford and Jodie Cox said that the riverside facility will create exciting new opportunities for our artists to exhibit their work in a variety of ways that will highlight their practice and engage art collectors, curators, and visitors.
“The new space includes a formal gallery space to showcase the work of our artists to the best possible effect, with higher ceilings and more wall space” they said. “It will also include a smaller informal space (the Lounge Gallery) where works can be shown in a more intimate setting with the opportunity to see works in a more relaxed manner.”
“We will open our new gallery with a special group exhibition on 3 August 2024. It will feature our represented artists who will be responding to the new gallery’s riverside location, providing them with an opportunity to explore themes of water and country.”
“The new gallery is walking distance to Brisbane’s dynamic cultural precinct of QAGOMA, Queensland Museum, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and the State Library of Queensland. This makes it so easy for international, interstate, and regional visitors to put Onespace on their itinerary, while maintaining our connection with the creative community of West End.”
Our current exhibition, Where We Meet by Naomi McKenzie will run solely online from the 3rd – 28th of June.
Over the next few months the Onespace team will be busy with the delivery of significant public art projects, our strong commitment to nurturing the talent of First Nations artists through our presence at CIAF (Cairns Indigenous Art Fair) from 24-28 July and online sales through our website stockroom.
