Tales from the In-Between continues Porter’s long-standing collaborative practice through Rhizomes, a hand-painted photographic series created with Billie Wilson-Coffey and performer Bridie Hooper. These large-scale images merge Wilson-Coffey’s luminous photography with Porter’s assemblage costumes, transforming the female form into an organic, hybrid entity. Ink washes, watercolour, and stitched lines blur the boundaries between painting and photography, suggesting roots, veins, and mutations. Synthetic hair and faux fur push the body beyond the frame as Hooper appears against surreal blue skies. A new video with Thomas Oliver expands this dream-like world, exploring layered bodies and evolving cross-species forms.
