Ross Booker
Remnants of an inland sea

2 - 26 October 2019

Ross Booker continues his exploration of the rugged Australian outback in his latest exhibition at Onespace Gallery. Booker reflects on the ephemeral nature of the planet and the ever-changing landscape brought about by both natural phenomena and the human footprint. An obsession with topography and geological formations has given Booker an understanding of the staggering time scales involved in the slow formation of the earth and the evolution of inland Australia. In contrast, the transience of the natural world is fast becoming more poignant in this epoch of human habitation.

Through his detailed visual observations and his close physical contact with the land, Booker gets to know and understand the geological skeleton that lies beneath the earth’s skin. The topographic lines of his drawings bring these anatomies to the surface.
