Sonja Carmichael and Elisa Carmichael’s in Tarnanthi 2020

Onespace Gallery represented artists Sonja Carmichael and Elisa Jane Carmichael were included in Tarnanthi 2020, Open Hands curated and presented by the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA). Open Hands pays tribute to the work of senior artists who pass on vital cultural knowledge to younger generations as the future leaders of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities. Through the act of making, they channel deep connections to Country and culture as they relate knowledge and expertise, stories and experiences. Sonja and Elisa’s stunning collaborative cyanotypes continue the exhibition’s ethos of ‘celebrating contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art’.

Onespace would also like to extend a huge thank-you to the Art Gallery of South Australia, Tarnanthi’s Artistic Director Nici Cumpston and the AGSA team, as well as Tarnanthi’s principal partners BHP and the Government of South Australia.
